In order to achieve maximum revenue potential, you need to include a lot of placeholders and at least one of each position type. This will give the system lots of options to test, which will help you earn more.

The position types are classified when you create Ezoic ad placeholders. There are 12 in total:

  • Sidebar
  • Sidebar Middle
  • Sidebar Bottom
  • Top of Page
  • Under Page Title
  • Under First Paragraph
  • Under Second Paragraph
  • Mid Content
  • Long Content
  • Longer Content
  • Longest Content
  • Bottom of Page

The system will only show one ad from each position type during testing, which is why it's important to have at least one of each on every page. 

You can use the Chrome Extension to see where the ads are on the page and how they are classified. Each position type has a different color. If there are more than two ad units with the same color, only one will show up at any given time. 

In the example below, we see four different colors. When testing begins, only one of the teal ads will show up.

The most important thing is to make sure you include at least one ad placeholder for each of the 8 colors on every page!

You can also see the position types in your Ezoic dashboard. For example, let's look at the image below. In this scenario, the system will only test 4 ads at any given time: one of the sidebar ads, a top of page, mid content, and bottom of page ad.


For better results, the publisher should make sure they have at least one ad placeholder for each position type and include multiple ad placeholders in each location (i.e. 3 different 'mid content' ads spread throughout their articles).
